The HMS02.1N-W0028 is an axis inverter from the HMS Axis Inverters series produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. As an HMS-class module, it interfaces between a 400 V three-phase mains supply and synchronous or induction motors. It provides controlled DC bus energy and pulse-width-modulated output for coordinated motion in multi-axis industrial automation cells. It can also be used in drive systems where multiple axes share a common power structure through the DC bus.
This unit delivers a continuous output current of 13.8 A, while its logic circuitry is powered by a dedicated 24 V DC control rail. Thermal energy is removed through internal air cooling with an integrated blower, so no external ducting is required for nominal operation. With no control section or brake connected, the inverter draws only 0.5 A and dissipates 13 W, which helps limit cabinet heat during standby. A DC-link capacitor bank rated at 0.14 mF smooths regenerated energy and supports ride-through during short mains dips. The inverter connects directly to a 3-phase network and is optimized for a nominal supply of 400 V AC. Because the unit does not include an internal power supply, all auxiliary electronics must receive power from the external 24 V feed. The unit is design version 1 and line version 2.
The drive’s peak output envelope reaches 28 A for rapid acceleration commands, and the IGBTs switch at 4 kHz to balance current ripple with switching loss. The housing has a width of 50 mm, a depth of 252 mm, and a height of 352 mm, which helps it fit inside shallow enclosures. This narrow profile helps conserve mounting space in compact control cabinets. The compact enclosure also supports dense module spacing while still allowing airflow through the internal cooling path.
