Drive converters in the HCS series by Bosch Rexroth feature a compact build that aids their easy installation. They also come with a variety of interfaces to suit different kinds of user-specific applications. Some of their target applications are machine tools, printing machines, and general automation.

The HCS01.1E-W0018-A-02-B-ET-EC-EP-NN-NN-FW is a drive converter in the HCS series with a maximum current rating of 18A. It is compatible with control sections in the BASIC range and encoders with supply voltages of 5V and 12V. These encoders are connected to its multi-encoder interface, which supports a wide range of standard encoders. They include the sin-cos encoder (1 Vpp) with reference track, the 5V-TTL square-wave encoder with reference track, the sin-cos encoder (1 Vpp) with EnDat 2.1, and the MSM motor encoder. The drive converter is installed per G1 mounting within the control cabinet so that natural convection supports the forced cooling air current. It has a Multi-Ethernet communication module for its integration in different Ethernet field bus systems, such as EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET IO, and sercos III.

Firmware use is allowed with the HCS01.1E-W0018-A-02-B-ET-EC-EP-NN-NN-FW. The drive converter is also equipped with a standard control panel whose single-line display shows operating states, command and error diagnoses, and pending warnings. This control panel serves as a programming module and has four keys used for initiating various commands and exploring other functions. According to the EN 60529 standard, the HCS model has an Ingress Protection rating of IP 20, indicating that it is safe from the penetration of solid external materials over 12mm. It also has an Engineering Port and allows switching frequencies of 4kHz, 8kHz, 12kHz, and 16kHz.
