The FCC01.1F-PB2-NNNN communication module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the FCS Frequency Converters series. Designed as an option card, it allows a converter in this series to exchange real-time data with PLCs over PROFIBUS networks used in material handling, packaging, and general motion platforms. By embedding the electronics directly in the drive stack, wiring is simplified and diagnostic information can be read without external gateways, making the module a straightforward component for networked industrial automation.
Internally, the module follows Design Version 1 and belongs to line 1 of the option family. Its bus side is electrically isolated, preventing ground loops between the converter electronics and the controller network. Communication takes place through the PROFIBUS DP protocol, presented on a 9-pole Sub-D connector that matches standard PROFIBUS cabling. The port operates as a serial link and its conductors are powered from the drive’s separate control supply. That supply must deliver 24 VDC and may vary within ±25%, allowing tolerance for common industrial power fluctuations. Power reaches the board through an insulation-piercing connector, so no screw terminals are required.
Setup features are organized on the front edge of the board. A rotary encoding switch lets the node address be assigned without software tools, and the wiring terminals accept conductors up to 0.75 mm², matching the cross-section of typical multi-core PROFIBUS cables. During operation, the green status lamp lights once the network is BUS Ready, while a red indicator marked BUS Error appears if the master loses communication or if the baud rate is set incorrectly. Because the PROFIBUS port is a serial interface, diagnostic telegrams flow in sequence and can be monitored directly from the controller. The front-edge controls support local address entry and status checking.
