The DM 8K 7101-D is a single-axis servo drive module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DM Servo Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit conditions power and regulates current for synchronous or induction motors used on automated assembly lines, packaging equipment, and material-handling stations. It processes torque or velocity commands from a machine controller over its CANrho setpoint channel and responds with controlled motor output. Feedback is returned through an STG or MTG encoder link so the drive can track motor behavior during operation. Because it is a single-axis module, one drive channel is dedicated to one motor connection, which helps keep axis functions separated inside multi-axis cabinets.

At 24 VDC, the logic electronics draw 0.89 A, so the auxiliary supply must remain available even when the main power stage is off, allowing the control section to stay active for command handling and status monitoring. Output capability depends on switching frequency, with continuous current rated at 5.7 Arms at 4 kHz or 3.6 Arms at 8 kHz. Derating applies as heat sink temperature rises, reducing the 4 kHz current by 0.15 A/K and the 8 kHz current by 0.1 A/K above the reference point. Short-term overload capability is higher, with peak current reaching 9.6 Arms at 4 kHz and 7.1 Arms at 8 kHz for rapid acceleration of inertial loads or brief demand spikes. Internal dissipation can reach 96.5 W, so cabinet airflow must remove heat from the module and surrounding rack area to keep current derating within predictable limits during sustained operation. The housing has a module height of 430 mm, along with a 50 mm frame width and a mass of 6.0 kg, allowing it to fit standard Rexroth rack slots without excessive panel crowding. The CANrho setpoint interface and the STG/MTG encoder connection keep command and feedback wiring separate while supporting closed-loop motor control.
