It supplies regulated energy to a motor phase set while simultaneously executing closed-loop one-axis positioning routines, making it suitable for precision pick-and-place stations, feeders, or tool axes inside larger automation cells. By combining a high-voltage DC link with internal motion processing, the module eliminates separate converters and standalone controllers, and instead delivers a compact axis solution that receives motion setpoints directly through the plant fieldbus.

Nominal commutation in the power stage occurs at a factory switching frequency of 8 kHz, a value that balances current ripple with semiconductor losses. Under open-loop conditions, the power section can source up to 10 Arms, while closed-loop regulation caps the continuous current at 3.6 Arms; these two ratings separate short-term overload capacity from continuous duty. Energy is drawn from a regulated DC link of 670 VDC, so matching supply modules must furnish that bus voltage. Motion commands enter through the setpoint interface PROFIBUS-DP, allowing synchronous updates from PLCs.
