The DM 8K 5311-D servo drive module is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DM Servo Drives series. It is an air-cooled, compact power stage that conditions a high-voltage DC link and forwards three-phase energy to connected motors. Integrated positioning control lets a controller issue precise motion commands without a separate motion card, so the unit serves as both power amplifier and axis regulator for packaging, handling, or forming equipment in automated lines. This combined arrangement keeps power conversion and motion control in one housing, which helps simplify wiring between system components in multi-axis cabinets.
During continuous operation at 8 kHz current control, the drive supplies a rated phase current of 3.6 Arms, a level suitable for mid-torque servo motors. Acceleration peaks can reach 7.1 Arms, giving brief overload capacity for rapid indexing moves. Switching devices dissipate up to 96.5 W, so cabinet airflow must remove the generated heat. The converter stabilizes the DC bus at 670 VDC, while braking or inrush events may lift the nonregulated rail toward 715 VDC; these limits set the insulation demands of downstream equipment. Resolver feedback with 12-bit resolution closes the velocity loop, and the setpoint interface accepts 24 V control signals from standard PLC outputs.
The logic circuit draws 0.89 A from the 24 V service supply, so an auxiliary source of roughly 25 W is sufficient. Touch-safe terminals comply with the IP20 protection rating and therefore need a sealed enclosure for dusty areas. A front height of 452.5 mm, a body height of 430 mm, and a narrow 50 mm module width reflect the compact mechanics designation and leave space for adjacent drives on the mounting rail. Internal airflow corridors molded into the housing spread switching heat without extra fans. The slim housing supports side-by-side installation in control cabinets where several axes must fit within limited panel space.
