Product Description:

The DM 8K 4101-D servo drive module is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the DM Servo Drives series. It converts high-energy direct current into controlled three-phase output so that industrial motors receive precise torque, speed, and position commands. In doing so, the unit acts as the interface between motion controllers and mechanical axes used in machine tools, assembly gantries, and automated packaging equipment.

The drive accepts an input of 670 VDC at up to 2.5 A DC, routing this energy to an internal bus whose regulated level is held just below that value while the non-regulated side can rise during regeneration. From the bus, the inverter synthesizes three-phase 400 VAC output at the motor terminals and sustains 2.4 A of continuous output current. Under a 4 kHz current loop, it delivers 5.7 A RMS continuously; when the loop bandwidth is doubled, the continuous rating becomes 3.6 A RMS because of additional switching loss. The IGBT bridge is clocked at 8 kHz, providing a balance between low acoustic noise and fine torque control. Motion commands arrive through an analog setpoint interface digitized at 16-bit resolution, while internal stage feedback is processed with 20-bit resolution and the motor-angle tracking circuit uses 32-bit arithmetic for commutation accuracy.

Overload headroom allows 10 A RMS momentary output so axes can accelerate without stalling before the control limits fold back to their continuous settings. The worst-case internal dissipation is 96.5 W, so cabinet airflow must be sized to keep heat sinks within their permitted temperature range. During regeneration, the non-regulated DC link can peak at 715 VDC, and auxiliary logic draws only 0.89 A from the 24 V rail, minimizing standby consumption. These operating limits help with fuse, cable, and cooling selection under real operating demands.
