The DM 8K 3301-D servo drive is a compact DC-fed controller manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DM Servo Drives series. It regulates three-phase AC motors in automated machinery, converting an intermediate DC bus into variable output voltage and frequency so axis speed and torque match process demands. When paired with resolver feedback, the unit serves as the core power stage in packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and other cyclic motion applications.

The internal DC link operates at 670 VDC, providing the energy storage level the inverter needs for fast torque transients. From that bus, the drive draws a rated input of 6 A DC, which sets supply-side cable sizing requirements. On the motor side, it synthesizes a three-phase output of 3 x 400 VAC, scaled through a 12-bit analog control interface that accepts velocity or torque commands from the motion controller. A factory-set switching frequency of 8 kHz modulates the IGBTs; the high carrier rate reduces motor acoustic noise but increases thermal loading, so the permissible fundamental frequency tops out at 800 Hz. This ceiling supports high-speed servo motors while keeping iron losses within the unit’s design envelope.

To support control electronics, the drive supplies its logic from an auxiliary 24-volt rail that demands only 0.89 A, easing the load on cabinet power supplies. The power stage can deliver 5.8 A of sinusoidal output current before derating and dissipates up to 96.5 W as heat through its compact housing. An IP20 enclosure rating means the drive requires installation inside a closed panel, consistent with its 3K3 climate classification for controlled indoor environments. Resolver feedback with 12-bit resolution integrates directly through the built-in resolver interface, and no additional auxiliary functions are included.
