The DM 4K 5111-D is a servo drive produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and released within the DM Servo Drives series. It is installed between a motion controller and a synchronous motor to convert low-voltage control commands into the high-power signals required for precise axis movement in automated machinery. Integrated positioning control allows the unit to execute stored motion profiles without an external PLC, making it suitable for material handling stations, pick-and-place gantries, and other applications that demand repeatable point-to-point moves. This arrangement lets the drive handle recurring indexing sequences locally when the machine uses repeated motion patterns.

The drive operates from a non-regulated DC link of 715 VDC that is internally stabilized to 670 VDC for closed-loop operation. During transient peaks, the power stage can supply up to 6.6 Arms, while continuous operation is limited to 2.5 Arms because of thermal constraints at an 8 kHz switching frequency. Derating above 45 °C follows a slope of 0.1 A/K, so cabinet cooling must be sized if ambient temperatures can rise to 55 °C. The housing is only 50 mm wide and stands 430 mm high, which helps conserve rail space in multi-axis racks and leaves more room for adjacent modules. A mass of 6.0 kg keeps the unit manageable during mounting and adds thermal inertia for the specified 8 kHz switching regime. Its narrow profile also fits cabinets where vertical space is available but horizontal space is limited.
