The DM 4K 3301-D servo drive is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as a member of the DM Servo Drives series. It supplies controlled three-phase power from a common DC bus to synchronous or induction motors, allowing velocity and torque regulation in automated machinery. Within an automation cabinet, the unit links motion controllers to motor windings and provides real-time current shaping for positioning tables, pick-and-place axes, and packaging lines.

The drive is connected to an unregulated DC bus of 715 VDC, while an internal regulator trims that level to 670 VDC for the power stage, so the output stage receives a stable voltage even when the supply fluctuates. Pulse-width modulation occurs at a factory-set switching frequency of 8 kHz, balancing acoustic noise and semiconductor losses. At a 4 kHz current-control bandwidth, the continuous phase current reaches 4.0 Arms, and when the bandwidth is doubled to 8 kHz, it is limited to 2.5 Arms to keep the IGBTs within their thermal range. Command signals arrive over an analog 12-bit interface, while a resolver with 12-bit resolution returns rotor position feedback. For short acceleration bursts, the current can rise to 6.6 Arms, giving extra torque before the overload timer intervenes. Above the 4 kHz base frequency, each 1 K rise in heat sink temperature forces a derating of 0.15 A/K, so thermal conditions directly affect available output. Total semiconductor and magnetic dissipation under rated load is 96.5 W, and this heat is removed by the integrated fan. The module occupies 50 mm of rack width and stands 430 mm high, yet it weighs only 6.0 kg, which helps reduce the load on cabinet mounting hardware.
