The DM 45K 6311-D is a servo drive manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat in the DM Servo Drives series. It integrates power electronics and motion logic to control a single motor, and its built-in one-axis positioning supports absolute or relative moves without an external PLC. Via the PROFIBUS-DP setpoint interface, the unit exchanges velocity and torque commands with higher-level controllers for conveyors, pick-and-place units, and general automation cells. This arrangement allows repeated positioning tasks to run inside the drive instead of relying on constant network updates.

At start-up the control electronics draw 1.4 A from the 24 V auxiliary supply, a figure used when sizing cabinet power buses. The main power stage is fed by a DC link that remains at 670 VDC when regulated and may rise to 715 VDC with an unregulated source, so capacitor and insulation selection must match that range. In closed-loop service the inverter provides 16.5 Arms, while open-loop overloads can reach 35 Arms to accelerate loads during short demand peaks. Switching devices dissipate up to 205 W of heat, so forced ventilation is required. The housing uses a compact layout; it is only 75 mm wide and the unit weighs 6.7 kg, making panel installation straightforward where cabinet space is limited. Up to 32 traversing blocks can be executed in stand-alone indexing mode, so repeated move sequences can run with less traffic on the central controller. When ambient temperature rises above 45 °C, the allowable output current falls by 0.5 A/K, so cabinet cooling must be sized accordingly. The resolver channel digitizes shaft angle with 12-bit resolution, delivering 4,096 positions per turn for precise interpolation.
