Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the DM 45K 6111-D as part of the DM Servo Drives series. The module is intended to control one servo axis, issuing positioning commands directly to the motor while coordinating with higher-level PLCs. Within an automation cell, it converts DC bus energy into three-phase output so motors can follow programmed motion blocks without separate amplifiers or external positioning hardware.

The drive supplies a continuous phase current of 16.5 Arms at an 8 kHz switching frequency, giving the motor a stable thermal load line. For short acceleration bursts, it can deliver up to 35 Arms under the same carrier, allowing the axis to overcome inertia or friction peaks. Ambient temperature influences output, and every kelvin above the reference causes a derating of 0.5 A/K, so cabinet cooling must be sized accordingly. Internal conduction and switching losses reach 205 W at full rated load, and this figure is used when calculating control cabinet heat extraction. Control electronics and gate drivers draw their power from a 24 V auxiliary supply that requires only 1.4 A, simplifying the low-voltage power supply design.

An integral fan provides air cooling, moving the heat generated by the silicon IGBT output stage across fin surfaces. The DC link connects through laminated busbars, reducing wiring inductance and supporting a compact power connection. Command and status data pass over PROFIBUS-DP, implemented to IEC 1158-2 and linked to a standard encoder interface for feedback closure. Up to 32 positioning blocks can be stored locally, letting the axis execute index moves without continual fieldbus traffic. Mechanical dimensions of 430 mm height, 75 mm width, and a 6.7 kg mass allow high rack density while keeping the unit compact enough for cabinet installation.
