The DM 45K 5311-D is a servo drive module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DM Servo Drives series. It is intended for installation in control cabinets where it translates motion commands from higher-level controllers into motor currents, enabling precise axis positioning in automated assembly, material handling, and machine-tool applications. The compact module integrates power electronics, signal processing, and safety interlocks, allowing it to function as the dedicated axis interface between the plant PLC and the connected servo motor.

Electrical performance is centered on a factory switching frequency of 8 kHz. Under this carrier, the drive delivers a continuous phase current of 16.5 Arms and can reach a short-term peak of 35 Arms for acceleration events. Currents are derated by 0.5 A per kelvin above the base heat-sink temperature, so thermal management must account for this 0.5 A/K slope. Logic and sensor circuits require a dedicated control rail, and the module draws 1.4 A from the 24 V cabinet supply. In operation, it loses up to 205 W as heat that must be removed by forced ventilation. Closed-loop motion is handled in Positioning Control mode, taking trajectory data through a Motion Control 24 V setpoint interface. Feedback is accepted from a resolver, and its 12-bit resolution supports sub-degree shaft accuracy. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so the cabinet must provide shielding against dripping fluids.

Mechanical footprint and environmental limits guide cabinet planning. The drive’s face measures 75 mm wide, allowing dense side-by-side stacking, and the assembly weighs 6.7 kg, so panel reinforcement is rarely needed. Continuous duty is specified up to 45 °C ambient, and above that point the earlier derating curve applies. Operation is permissible at elevations of 3000 m without forced derating of insulation distances, and the unit tolerates non-operating storage temperatures to 70 °C without damaging the power stage or resolver interface.
