The DM 30K 3301-D servo drive is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the DM Servo Drives series. It is a power electronic module that converts a regulated DC link into three-phase AC to run synchronous or induction motors in automated machinery. By combining signal processing, current control, and field-oriented regulation, the unit supplies precise torque and speed commands to motion axes used in packaging lines, pick-and-place gantries, and material-handling cells. This control structure helps the drive respond quickly to changing load conditions while maintaining smooth motor operation across a wide speed range.

Internally, the drive derives its power from a DC link that reaches 715 VDC when unregulated and stabilizes through the intermediate circuit during normal operation. Under rated load, the converter draws 8.5 A of direct current from the bus. Pulse-width modulation is clocked at 8 kHz, enabling an output carrier of up to 800 Hz so high-speed spindles can be supplied with stable waveform control. Analog command values are digitized with a 12-bit interface, and the drive accepts resolver feedback for closed-loop motor control. During operation, the unit dissipates no more than 156 W of heat, so cabinet airflow must remove that thermal load effectively.

Motor phase power leaves the inverter as 400 VAC (3-phase), and a separate 24 V control rail draws 1.03 A to keep logic and contactors active when the main DC link is de-energized. The resolver channel is processed with a 12-bit position word, which supports consistent position evaluation and matches the drive’s internal analog resolution. For parameter setup and diagnostics, the unit provides an RS232 port that communicates at 9600 bit/s with 8 data bits, even parity, 2 stop bits, and XON/XOFF software handshaking. The nine-pin Sub-D socket supports cable runs up to 15 m, which is useful when the control interface must be mounted elsewhere in a large cabinet. Continuous duty is permitted at ambient temperatures up to 45 °C, so the surrounding enclosure must maintain adequate airflow around the heat sink.
