The DM 30K 3101-D is a compact servo drive module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DM Servo Drives series. In an automation cell, it converts a high-voltage DC bus into regulated three-phase AC, enabling precise torque, speed, and position control of connected servomotors. The unit’s air-cooled design allows installation in control cabinets where forced ventilation is available, and its standard encoder and analog setpoint interfaces connect directly to a PLC or motion controller that coordinates multi-axis production equipment.
At the power stage, the drive accepts a DC bus of 670 VDC supplied by a shared rectifier. From this link, it can deliver a continuous phase current of 14 A RMS when the switching frequency is set to 4 kHz, a level suited to medium-frame motors that perform rapid indexing. The inverter synthesizes a line output of 400 VAC, and the modulation range supports fundamental frequencies in a range of 0–800 Hz for applications that span standstill holding to high-speed spindle rotation. Motion references arrive through an analog velocity or torque command that the controller samples with 12-bit resolution, allowing fine incremental adjustments without serial communication overhead.
When higher PWM rates are chosen to reduce motor acoustic noise, the switching frequency may be raised to 8 kHz; in this mode, the sustainable output is 9.7 A RMS. The drive’s protection circuit trips if the DC link rises above 800 V, shielding IGBTs from surge energy, while a separate undervoltage limit protects gate control when the bus collapses. Logic electronics draw only 1.03 A from the 24 V service supply, so auxiliary power reserves remain available for sensors and fieldbus nodes. During continuous duty, the module dissipates no more than 156 W, which informs enclosure airflow calculations and supports dense side-by-side mounting with other DM series inverters.
