It serves as the regulating component between the mains supply and a synchronous motor, interpreting position and velocity commands before delivering controlled three-phase power. This function supports automated axes in packaging, assembly, and material-handling equipment where accurate motion must be maintained as operating loads change.
The power stage accepts a three-phase 230 V AC input and delivers 50 A of continuous output current to the connected motor windings. An internal monitoring circuit trips at 1.5 times the rated current, protecting the drive and its cabling against sustained overloads. A separate cutoff engages if the DC-link voltage exceeds 475 V, preventing excessive voltage from reaching sensitive power-stage components. Brake release and clamp signals for the matched motor are supplied directly by the drive at 24 V DC, eliminating the need for external relays. Digital servo feedback is accepted through the IN 290 connector, allowing the controller to monitor motor position and velocity during operation. Two diagnostic outputs transmit status bits to upstream controllers, while the air-cooled chassis operates within the reduced-noise class without requiring additional ducting.
