The DDC01.2-K050A-R is a digital intelligent servo drive built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the DDC Digital Intelligent Servo Drives series. It belongs to design series 1 and version 2, and it modulates AC power into controlled pulses that govern synchronous and asynchronous servomotors with resolver feedback. By combining command processing, power electronics, and field-mount protection in one housing, the unit can be installed directly on machinery and reduce the amount of required cabinet space. Its integrated control section processes motion commands and regulates motor current for precise torque, speed, and position control in industrial automation systems.
The drive delivers a continuous output current of 25 A while tolerating momentary demand up to 50 A, allowing it to accelerate high-inertia loads without exceeding its thermal limits. Its separate rated current is 50 A for motor selection and operating calculations. Power enters through a three-phase supply that must provide 6 kVA, and the switching devices operate at a carrier frequency of 8 kHz to limit current ripple. The enclosure has an IP65 protection rating, allowing installation in areas exposed to dust and water jets when the absolute humidity remains below 25 g/m³. Natural convection moves air over the heat sink without a fan, while noise emission remains in the Standard (100 A to 200 A) class. Resolver feedback supplies rotor position information to the control section for closed-loop operation. The control section can absorb 5 kWs of regenerated energy from decelerating axes, and the DC bus tolerates nonperiodic overvoltages of up to 745 V without triggering a fault.
Internal bleeder resistors dissipate 0.25 kW continuously and up to 10 kW during short braking events, preventing the DC-link voltage from rising above safe limits. Overall electronic power loss is limited to 500 W, and natural convection carries the resulting heat away through the heat sink. The chassis has a mass of 21 kg, providing thermal inertia and vibration damping after the unit is securely flange-mounted. The peak bleeder capacity accommodates brief energy returns during rapid deceleration, while the continuous rating applies when braking energy is produced over longer operating periods. Adequate clearance around the heat sink is necessary to maintain unobstructed airflow during sustained operation.
