The ctrlX CORE Control Platforms from Bosch Rexroth comprise compact, embedded controls intended for DIN-rail mounting and use inside a control cabinet for machine-automation applications such as handling, packaging, printing, and machine tools.
The series is built around a 64-bit quad-core ARM CPU (Zynq UltraScale+) with 2 GB DRAM, 4 GB internal eMMC, and 128 KB NVRAM to provide computing capacity for complex control tasks. The platform uses a Linux-based operating system that is open to ctrlX CORE runtime/engineering apps from the ctrlX WORKS toolkit as well as customized apps, with a central ctrlX Data Layer to exchange data between apps in real time and non-real time. For networking and motion integration, X2 provides two 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports and X3 provides three, with the onboard EtherCAT master used to connect and control drives, I/O modules, and other EtherCAT devices, while X3 also adds a USB-C host interface. The controls operate from a 24 VDC SELV/PELV supply (18–31.2 V range) with internal electronic fuse/protection features and are rated IP20, so they are specified for installation in an IP54-or-better cabinet on a 35 mm support rail with defined mounting orientation and cooling clearances.
