The CTA04.1B is an operator keypad from the CTA Interface Keypads series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. The unit serves as a human-machine interface for motion systems, giving operators a local point for jogging axes, viewing process variables, and changing drive parameters in automated production lines. Through a dedicated ribbon cable, it connects to Indramat controllers and presents status information on its built-in screen while the membrane keys send context-sensitive commands to the control system. This arrangement lets an operator review machine status directly at the cabinet instead of relying only on a remote display.
Its processing section supervises up to 4 axes, and each channel can report position in IU units and speed in rpm. The front panel carries an LCD that shows four lines of text, and each line holds 16 characters per line, so alarm codes and setpoints can be read without scrolling. This format helps keep short messages, menu labels, and editable values visible during routine adjustments. Data screens can advance automatically through 8 automatic display modes, or they can be stepped manually with the keypad once the electronics are energized by the 24 V enable input. Three concurrent tasks can be viewed at the same time, and the single-parameter display mode uses the full screen for value editing.
The control logic accommodates 3 operating modes, allowing the keypad to switch between automatic production, manual setup, and diagnostic use without changes to the basic application flow. Internally, the scheduler can store up to 5 tasks, and the unit reports their real-time state on an 8-bit I/O status bus for higher-level controllers. When operators need to override the automatic cycle, the keypad offers 8 manual display modes that mirror the layout of the automatic screens for easier navigation. The mirrored layouts reduce confusion when users move between automatic and manual views, and only one parameter group is shown at a time to keep editing straightforward during local operation.
