It occupies the command layer between a PLC and power electronics, issuing motion commands, processing feedback, and coordinating I/O so that servo axes follow precise position or speed profiles in packaging, printing, and material-handling equipment. By combining network ports, analog conditioning, and encoder power on one card, the unit simplifies cabinet layouts and reduces external wiring.

The controller logic is powered from a dedicated 24 V DC supply, and its internal base load is only 17 W, allowing compact auxiliary supplies. Input processing starts with 3 analog inputs that accept a ±10 V signal over a bandwidth of 1.3 kHz; this lets the drive react to high-speed reference changes from external transducers. Discrete machine states are captured through 11 digital inputs, each optically isolated from the logic domain. A ±10 V analog output is provided for external drives, and the matching voltage input range avoids additional scaling hardware.
