As the command-processing portion of the drive, it sits between the machine control and the power electronics, interpreting axis commands and matching them to motor feedback data. Real-time communication occurs over the SERCOS interface, and the channel is set for a data transmission rate of 16 MBaud, allowing deterministic exchange of setpoints and feedback. The current control loop is refreshed every 125 µs, so commanded torque changes propagate quickly to the motor windings. The unit provides 8 digital inputs for discrete command channels, while the single digital output can source up to 500 mA for actuator signaling. This safety function supports shutdown of torque production without removing control power from the entire cabinet. A 24 V, 1 A STO feedback contact handles acknowledgment, and a 24 V, 3 mA control input arms the safety logic. During power-up, the module draws an inrush of 4.5 A, and its signal emulator can reproduce encoder patterns at 1 MHz for downstream control testing. The housing is 49.5 mm wide, which permits side-by-side mounting with adequate airflow around the PCB.
