Command data reach the module over a fiber-optic ring that carries the SERCOS interface protocol; the optical medium reduces electromagnetic interference and allows deterministic cyclic telegrams at up to 16 MBaud. At only 103 mm in depth and 241 mm in height, the unit fits shallow control cabinets while still exposing a D-Sub 15 female socket for the second encoder. Encoder port one provides 11.6 V excitation with a steady current capacity of 300 mA, enough for typical sine-cosine or EnDat transducers, whereas the second port can source 8 VDC for HSF encoders or 18.2 Vpp for resolver carriers. These electrical limits safeguard sensor integrity and prevent overload on the controller’s internal supply rail.
Functional safety is addressed through the integrated Safe Torque Off circuit. The STO logic accepts a 24 VDC permissive on a D-Sub 9 female connector; when the signal is absent, the power stage is blocked without influencing drive parameters. For application signaling, a relay contact rated at 24 VDC / 1 A is available so the machine PLC can verify module status. The housing measures only 49.5 mm in width, leaving room for adjacent options within multi-axis racks and supporting dense cabinet layouts.
