The CLCD11A1 is a plug-in motion controller card produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the CLC Motion Controllers series. Mounted on a drive or PC backplane, it executes interpolation, trajectory generation, and error handling for multiple servo axes. The card communicates with downstream drives through a fiber-optic SERCOS ring, eliminating the need for analog command wiring and providing deterministic cycle timing in automated assembly lines, packaging stations, and other industrial motion applications.
At the heart of the board is a Motorola 68EC020 CPU clocked at 25.0 MHz, supported by a 68882 math coprocessor for floating-point calculations used in path planning. Program code resides in 1 Mbyte of EPROM, while dynamic data and parameter tables are stored in 512 Kbytes of battery-backed SRAM, allowing motion sequences to be retained when main power is removed. Two asynchronous serial channels are provided; each terminates on a 9-pin D-Sub connector and reaches a maximum transfer rate of 38,400 baud for diagnostic or HMI links. Real-time drive traffic uses one SERCOS input and one output port that connect to external fiber through an FSMA 2.2 mm connector. This optical path is resistant to electrical noise and preserves ring integrity across the machine network.
The controller draws +5 V DC at 800 mA from standard backplane power rails. A coin cell delivering 3 V maintains the static RAM and real-time clock during outages; this backup arrangement provides at least one minute of data retention, after which the user program enters a controlled restart routine. Optical links can tolerate up to 12.5 dB of fiber-path attenuation before communication is lost, allowing cabinet-to-cabinet spans without repeaters. For safety interlocks, a ready relay is rated for 8 A and can switch loads up to 125 V. This relay allows an external controller to detect when the axis logic has initialized and the motion controller is ready for operation.
