Its processing section uses a 68EC020 microprocessor clocked at 25.0 MHz, while a separate 68882 math coprocessor accelerates floating-point calculations required for interpolation and kinematic transforms. Volatile program data are held in 512 Kbyte of static RAM, and the nonvolatile area is provided by two EPROM sockets that support up to 1 Mbyte of code storage. The controller has no digital I/O channels. It exchanges cyclic data with drives through a SERCOS fiber pair configured as one input port and one output port, and it interfaces with supervisory PCs through two RS-232 or RS-485/422 serial links. A seven-segment display on the front panel shows module status, and power is drawn from the backplane at +5 Vdc with a required supply current of 800 mA during operation.
Program retention during power loss is maintained by a replaceable CR2477N lithium manganese dioxide cell rated at 0.9 Ah, which supplies the 3 V standby rail that preserves SRAM contents and real-time clock data. The controller can supervise up to 30 SERCOS ring drives, allowing synchronized multi-axis systems without additional master hardware.
