By integrating the keyboard modules with the master board, the panel allows an operator to initiate cycles, acknowledge alarms, and execute jog functions without navigating a touchscreen. The fixed-key layout remains practical in areas where gloves or coolant residue are common.

Each keyboard module uses LED backlighting so the legends remain readable in low-light enclosures. The front of the module carries an IP65 rating, keeping oil mist and dust out of the switch matrix during washdowns. A single module provides 15 keys, letting designers assign dedicated functions instead of multiplexing through menu structures. The master board presents 16 inputs and 16 outputs, giving the controller equal lines for reading panel status and driving lamp feedback.
