Product Description:
The ZS5052-4500 is a passive distribution module produced by Beckhoff within the ZS Motion Accessories series. It links motion components to a common CAN-based field network through multiple M12 interfaces, allowing decentralized drives or sensors to share power and data on a single trunk. In an automation cabinet or directly on the machine frame, the unit distributes the bus line while preserving impedance and supply integrity for each connected axis.
The module routes communication through a 5-pin M12 plug with screw locking bus connector and presents four downstream sockets wired 1:1 for transparent signal flow. It supports both CANopen and DeviceNet protocols, and data exchange can run at a maximum of 1 Mbaud on CANopen or 500 kBaud on DeviceNet, depending on the controller setting. With the trunk operated at 125 kBaud, the segment length can reach 310 m, whereas a local stub on a 1 Mbaud topology must be kept short to avoid reflections. Plug configuration is 1 × 5-pin on the bus side, and socket configuration is 4 × 5-pin for the drops. The housing is sealed to IP67, so the distributor can be mounted without an additional enclosure in washdown or dust-laden areas. Supply and signal contacts follow the 2 + 3 pin assignment, which keeps power separate from the differential bus lines.
Power is passed through at up to 30 V and a continuous load of 4 A, allowing several compact actuators to be fed from the same trunk. The integrated terminator helps control branch loading and supports stable signal transmission on short stubs. Operation is specified from 11 V up to the stated upper limit, with reliable service from 0 °C up to 55 °C. Pin 2 and pin 3 carry the supply so standard-coded M12 cords can deliver power to connected sensors without extra wiring.
