The ZS1052-3000 is a field-installable termination block produced by Beckhoff within the ZS Motion Accessories series. Designed for decentralized motion systems, the unit ends and routes CAN-based service lines so drives, I/O stations, and controllers share a reliable physical layer. By integrating the required resistor network into a compact connector body, it simplifies network setup inside machines and panels. The module is intended to be mounted close to the last drive in a daisy chain and performs the dual role of cable breakout and bus termination, ensuring correct impedance matching at the end of a segment.
It supports the fieldbus profiles CANopen and DeviceNet, allowing the same hardware to serve both motion and general automation topologies. The connector uses an open-style design, so crimp contacts are accessible for direct cable entry without proprietary shells. A 5-pin layout carries the signals, and the assignment follows 1 = CAN GND, 2 = CAN-L, 3 = shield, and 4 = CAN-H, while pin 5 remains unused. The block sits inside the housing, so the body is protected once snapped into the drive enclosure. Shield continuity is routed through the strain-relief clamp to maintain low-impedance grounding along the trunk. An integrated termination resistor is already fitted, eliminating the need for external resistor plugs on the device side.
Termination can still be disabled or enabled through an external slide switch, permitting rapid diagnostic bypasses without rewiring. The design allows a maximum of 2 active terminators on a single segment, meeting the standard requirement for one resistor at each physical end. Separate cabling paths are provided; the line terminals are arranged as separate in and out connections, so the incoming trunk and the outgoing stub never share the same screw clamp. When the switch selects the termination position, the outgoing line state becomes isolated when terminated, preventing reflections from an unterminated stub while keeping upstream devices online.
