Beckhoff produces the ZB8110 Braking Resistor for industrial automation applications. This resistor is specified for dynamic braking applications. It helps in transforming excess electrical energy into thermal energy, which is properly dissipated when in braking activities. The rated power of this braking resistor is set at 100 W. It is applicable for systems that need control of braking energy.

The ZB8110 braking resistor includes a built-in 1000 mm connection cable. The cable has a wire cross-section of AWG16 or 1.5 mm². Such a cable size ensures a reliable electrical connection in industrial systems. The resistance value of the resistor is 10 ohms. This permits controlled current flow during braking. The braking resistor can withstand a maximum self-protection voltage of 700 V AC. It also has support for self-protection conditions with up to 1000 V DC. It is CSA and UL approved to 600 V AC and 850 V DC levels. This has verified its compatibility with certified systems. The isolating voltage rating is 4000 V at 50 Hz per minute. The ZB8110 braking resistor can consume up to energy consumption 4 kJ of energy within 1.2 seconds. It also supports 8 kJ energy consumption at 7.2 seconds.
