The ZK4500-8023-0120 is a flexible motor supply cable manufactured by Beckhoff within the ZK Motor Cables series. Designed as a dynamic link between servo drives and motors, the assembly carries three-phase power, signal, and optional brake conductors in a single sheath to simplify routing in automated machinery. Its role in industrial automation is to deliver stable energy and control feedback to moving axes while withstanding continuous motion inside drag-chain carriers. The harness reduces the number of separate cable runs in packaging lines, gantry axes, and material-handling equipment.
The cable is rated for 1000 V AC along the outer jacket, allowing operation on servo inverters that run at elevated bus voltages. The power cores carry up to 30 A, while the brake conductors are sized at 0.75 mm² and the main phase conductors are sized at 1.50 mm² to limit losses. A factory length of 12.00 m lets the cable span typical cabinet-to-axis distances without mid-span connectors. Head A uses the M23 interface, combining power pins, encoder lines, and brake contacts in one keyed plug. Other electrical limits include 630 V AC/DC on the power pins, 7 A on the signal group, and 250 V AC/DC on the feedback conductors. A TPU outer jacket resists cutting oils and torsion, and the cable mass is 250 kg/km.
Impulse durability permits 6.0 kV surges on the power cores and 2.5 kV on the signal channels, allowing the assembly to withstand switching transients from IGBT drives. For continuous flexing, the drag-chain design is verified for travel up to 4 m/s and a service life of 5 million double strokes, which supports repeated motion in high-cycle equipment. The signal pairs use AWG22 conductors with tinned copper strands to maintain impedance stability at encoder frequencies. This helps the cable maintain reliable feedback transmission during repeated axis acceleration and deceleration.
