Product Description:
The ZK4500-0003/2 cable is produced by Beckhoff within the ZK Motor Cables series and is intended for stationary machine sections where servo drives supply rotary or linear motors. By combining energy conductors and feedback pairs in one sheath, it minimizes cabinet space and simplifies routing. The assembly is installed between the drive controller and the motor so that torque commands, brake release power, and encoder information reach the axis without separate harnesses. Its stationary-use design suits installations where the cable path remains fixed instead of cycling through moving cable carriers.
The conductors use bare copper strands for low resistance, and an outer PVC jacket shields the bundle from oils and coolants found in machinery. A dynamic pull limit of 20 N/mm² applies during installation, because higher force can deform the conductor geometry. Power lines rated at 1.50 mm² support circuits cleared for 1000 V AC. An overall braid and foil provide a shielding efficiency of ≥85 %, which helps suppress electromagnetic noise at the eight-pin M23 connector on Head A. This shielding helps preserve feedback quality when motor power and signal paths share the same jacket. The cable is intended only for fixed installation runs inside control cabinets, and the PP core insulation maintains dimensional stability under typical service temperatures.
The insulation system withstands a proof test of 4000 V, 50 Hz, 5 min and maintains an insulation resistance of ≥500 MΩ·km after thermal aging. A dedicated signal pair with a cross-section of 0.75 mm² carries encoder or temperature data without crosstalk from the power cores. Head B uses a 7.62 mm pitch and Head D uses a 3.50 mm pitch. Overall mass reaches 224 kg per kilometer, which matters when tray loading is calculated for long cabinet runs.
