Product Description:
The ZK1090-6161-2200 is a pre-assembled motor and EtherCAT cord set manufactured by Beckhoff for the ZK Motor Cables series. This product links servo axes or compact I/O terminals to decentralized drives in control cabinets and on machine frames. By merging power, signal, and network lines within a small polyurethane sheath, the cable supports quick plug-and-play installation, reduces field wiring errors, and maintains the deterministic communication required in packaging machines, gantry robots, and material-handling stations. The combined layout also keeps moving cable bundles compact where separate power and communication leads would take more space.
It is rated for a maximum operating voltage of 30 V, which suits extra-low-voltage supplies used for encoder power and motor holding brakes. The cable core uses a star-quad structure to preserve differential pair symmetry, and the conductors have a 7-strand construction for improved flexibility during continuous motion. Differential data lines present a characteristic impedance of 100 Ω ± 15 Ω, allowing the assembly to meet Ethernet physical-layer tolerances over extended lengths. Both ends terminate in 2 x M12 straight male 4-pin D-coded plugs, so installation requires no on-site crimping. Despite carrying both power and data, the cable has an overall diameter of only 3.65 mm ± 0.15 mm, supported by fine AWG26 conductors with a 1 × 4 × 0.14 mm² cross-section. A green PUR jacket resists oil, abrasion, and weld spatter, while continuous shielding helps reduce electromagnetic emissions.
The power cores support up to 4 A at 40 °C, which is suitable for small servo brake currents while keeping conductor temperature within the limits of the PUR insulation. For transient disturbances, the insulation system withstands a surge level of 2.5 kV. When the molded connectors are tightened to Beckhoff’s recommended 0.6 Nm, the interface reaches a sealing class of IP65/67, which helps block dust ingress and temporary water spray. Signal quality is supported by a propagation delay of 4.8 ns/m, which fits typical EtherCAT timing budgets. With a mass of 30.0 kg/km, cable routing must account for the load on trays and unsupported runs.
