The ZK1090-3161-1030 is a pre-assembled motor feedback cable manufactured by Beckhoff within the ZK Motor Cables series. Designed for servo axes and I/O modules, the assembly carries both power and differential signal pairs between field devices and control cabinets. Its molded M8 and M12 terminations allow rapid installation in machines that rely on distributed drives. In an automation cell, this cable links encoders, brakes, and compact motors to EtherCAT drive controllers, supporting reliable data transmission while supplying low-voltage power along the same jacketed bundle inside compact routing channels. Because the connectors are already fitted at the factory, routing and hookup can be completed without separate field termination steps at either end of the cable.
The cable has an overall length of 3.00 m, enabling point-to-point routing inside medium-size enclosures without excess slack. A controlled characteristic impedance of 100 Ω ±15 Ω matches typical industrial Ethernet transceivers so reflected waves are minimized at high switching edges. When supplying actuators, the copper cores can carry 4 A at 40 °C continuously, while insulation rated to ≤ 125 V keeps the assembly in the extra-low-voltage range for operator safety. The PUR jacket measures 6.5 mm in diameter, giving abrasion resistance while allowing flexible motion in linear transfer systems. This combination supports installations where communication and auxiliary power have to share one compact cable path.
Dynamic applications are addressed by a service life of 3 million drag-chain strokes over a 4.5 m travel window, so pick-and-place gantries can cycle repeatedly under moving-cable conditions. Signal integrity is maintained by braided shielding that covers ≥ 85 % of the circumference, reducing electromagnetic coupling even when the conductor bundle bends to a radius of 15 × outer diameter inside energy guides. Tinned-copper strands with a 7 × 0.25 mm construction limit oxidation, and the M8 A-coded plug on one end mates with sensor ports while the opposite M12 D-coded plug connects directly to EtherCAT junctions. The shielding and flexible conductor layout are useful where communication lines and low-voltage supply conductors run together in the same moving harness.
