Product Description:
The ZK1090-3161-0050 is a shielded motor connection cable manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the ZK Motor Cables series. It links drives to motors or decentralized I/O terminals, carrying low-voltage supply and encoder signals in one assembly while simplifying cabinet wiring and maintaining electromagnetic compatibility inside automated machinery. The shielded construction also helps reduce electrical noise where motion components and control wiring run close together.
The conductors have a cross section of 1 x 4 x 0.14 mm² and use a star-quad geometry that minimizes crosstalk between power and feedback pairs. A nominal cable voltage of 30 V and a rated continuous load of 4 A indicate the operating range for the connected circuit. Factory-molded connectors simplify installation: the device side terminates in a M8 plug, 4-pin, A-coded, while the controller side uses a M12 plug, 4-pin, D-coded. Each conductor consists of 19 × 0.1 mm stranded copper for high flex endurance, and the PUR outer jacket resists cutting oils and continuous chain motion. Dielectric strength is verified at a test voltage of 700 V, providing margin above the operating level.
The assembled length is 5.00 m, allowing moving axes to be placed several meters from the drive enclosure without intermediate junctions. Dynamic operation is supported by a loop resistance of 250 Ω/km, a maximum travel speed of 15 m/s, and acceleration limits of 10 m/s², which suits fast pick-and-place gantries. A braided and foil screen gives 90 % coverage, and the mutual capacitance of 51 pF/m with a signal delay of 5.55 ns/m helps preserve signal integrity along the run. The assembly remains suitable for repeated motion because the PUR jacket, low capacitance, and controlled impedance help limit heat rise and voltage drop.
