The ZK1090-3161-0020 is a motor cable from Beckhoff that belongs to the ZK Motor Cables series. Designed for servo axes and other moving loads, the cable transmits power and Ethernet-based feedback between drive controllers and motors while tolerating continuous motion in dynamic routing paths. It is intended for installations where the motor and cabinet connections move with the machine, so both power delivery and real-time communication must remain stable over repeated cycles. Electrical integrity is verified at a dielectric test level of 700 V, supporting dependable insulation inside the molded connectors.
It is supplied in a length of 2.00 m, allowing short connections inside compact cable chains without excess slack. The assembly uses a M8 male 4-pin A-coded to M12 male 4-pin D-coded plug set, so the motor side and the control cabinet side connect through standard mating interfaces. A rated load of 4 A at 40 °C supports typical 24 V supply current for encoder electronics. The control-side interface can handle up to 160 V, and the motor side can handle up to 50 V AC / 60 V DC. Internally, the star-quad layout groups four AWG26 conductors in a 1 × 4 × 0.14 mm² arrangement around a drain wire, and each core uses 19 strands of 0.1 mm copper. Polypropylene insulation and the yellow, orange, white, and blue core colors make the internal layout easy to distinguish.
The cable’s outer sheath is made of PUR (polyurethane), a material chosen for abrasion resistance and flexibility under repeated movement. The sheath also resists wear where the cable slides through carriers and bends repeatedly around guide radii. A braided copper screen provides 90% coverage, helping reduce EMI coupling when power and communication lines run close together.
