The M-2400 021 parallel I/O module is produced by Beckhoff as part of the M Parallel IO Modules series. This module connects directly to the system motherboard through a synchronous back-plane so it can relay process data without protocol overhead. By combining analog outputs, digital inputs, and digital drivers in a single block, it gives a PLC or motion controller precise, cycle-bound interaction with external devices such as proportional valves, contactors, and status sensors that populate modern assembly, packaging, and material-handling machinery.
The analog section provides 4 analog output channels that can each source or sink a symmetrical voltage of ±10 V. With a native conversion depth of 12-bit, each step represents 4.88 mV, and the integral linearity remains within ±1 LSB. A 10 µs rise time supports rapid set-point changes, while the module streams data to the back-plane at 2.5 MBaud. The controller completes each 32-bit transaction in 25 µs, keeping the analog loop aligned with servo cycles. The circuits are supplied from a 24 V DC rail. Command propagation incurs a 0.7 ms input delay, and a 6.8 ms latch period prevents data overlap between successive writes.
The digital block furnishes 16 digital lines that can be configured individually as inputs or transistor outputs. In input mode each channel draws 10 mA, and debouncing is coordinated with the watchdog circuit that forces a system reset if no host refresh occurs within 100 ms. When configured as drivers the ports can source or sink up to 500 mA, enabling direct actuation of contactors or pilot lamps without interposing relays. Overall module demand on the supply rail is limited by a no-load draw of 0.1 A, leaving current headroom for field devices. The housing measures 270 × 76 × 68 mm, allowing side-by-side mounting with other Beckhoff modules on standard DIN rail.
