The KS6001 Serial interface terminal from Beckhoff is designed for seamless device connectivity in industrial automation that requires RS232 communication. The serial interface terminal is designed to enable reliable and efficient data exchange between automation devices and external RS232 equipment.
The RS232 cable length can reach up to 15 meters, which accommodates flexible installation. The terminal ensures signal voltage levels from -18 V to -3 V for logic low and 3 V to 18 V for logic high. Power is supplied via the K-bus, and current consumption is 55 mA. Electrical isolation of 500 V between the K-bus and signal voltage protects the system. The interface terminal features a data buffer with 128 bytes for receiving and 16 bytes for transmitting data. Operating in full duplex mode with two data transfer channels, TxD and RxD, the KS6001 serial interface terminal is compatible with RS232 technology. With a default of 9600 baud, the terminal can transport data at rates between 1200 and 19200 baud while keeping bit distortion at 3% to ensure signal integrity. Configuration is managed via the bus coupler or controller without address setting. It tolerates up to 95% relative humidity without condensation and mounts on a 35 mm rail according to EN 60715.
