The KS3351 is an input module which is developed by Beckhoff. The digital module is mainly required in Industrial automation applications for its diverse range of functions.

The KS3351 Input Module can be mounted in any orientation without affecting performance. The module offers high precision in signal conversion as it has 16 bits resolution which allows fine measurement details to be captured. The module reference voltage range from -10 V … +10 V can be adjusted depending on the sensor requirements. The module can be mounted on a 35 mm mounting rail according to EN 60715 which makes it compatible with most control cabinets. It ensures electromagnetic compatibility and minimizes interference in industrial environments. The analog to digital conversion is fast as it takes less than 250 ms. The module has less than 0.1% of measuring errors and this high accuracy is maintained across the entire input range. It comes with two input channels each providing 16 bit data for the controller and optionally with 8 bit control and status data. It is suitable for compact panel installations as it has a weight of only 70 grams.

The KS3351 series module has a differential voltage range for the strain gauge bridge from -16 mV … +16 mV which can be adjustable for different load cells. The power drawn from the K bus is only 65 mA which is efficient for distributed input and output systems. The module supports two inputs configured for one full bridge sensor connection. In this module the power is supplied with the K bus which eliminates the need for external power wiring that simplifies the system design. This input module has an internal resistance greater than 200 k ohms which helps reduce load on signal sources and prevents signal distortion.
