Product Description:

The KS2424 is a digital input module from Beckhoff designed to receive binary signals from field devices. Its dimensions are 15 mm width x 100 mm height x 70 mm depth and has a weight of 70 g. The KS24 digital module satisfies electromagnetic compatibility criteria per EN 61000-6-2 for immunity and EN 61000-6-4 for emission values.

The KS2424 digital input module provides four digital outputs and each output channel has a maximum current capability of 2.0 A. It offers permanent protection during faults because each channel operates with short-circuit proofing and the operation stays safe because the designated short circuit current does not reach 70 A. The KS24 digital module accepts ohmic, inductive and lamp type loads while having an inductive load breaking limit below 1.7 J per channel. It functions at a standard 24 V DC nominal voltage but operates within acceptable parameters from 20% below to 20% above to adapt to typical industrial power supply systems. The KS24 digital module includes an integrated reverse polarity protection system that protects from improper wiring connections. It also maintains 500 V electrical isolation between K-bus and field voltage for higher system safety and superior signal integrity. The device operates at 30 mA while the K-bus consumes about 9 mA of current. Installation of the KS24 digital module remains simple because it needs no configuration settings or address assignment process.

The KS2424 digital input module features 3.5 cm DIN rail mounting as per standards and delivers 2-wire connection functionality to allow easy integration with all KS Bus terminals through its pluggable wiring solution. The enhanced mechanical loading capability adhere to specified installation requirements and demonstrates vibration resistance and shock resistance performance according to industrial requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions about KS2424:

Q: Why does the KS2424 module support inductive, ohmic, and lamp loads?

A: Supporting multiple load types enhances its application flexibility in varied industrial systems, allowing integration with both resistive and reactive field devices.

Q: How does the 500 V isolation in KS2424 improve system reliability?

A: It minimizes interference between the K-bus and field voltage, preventing ground loops and enhancing signal quality across automation components.

Q: What role does the reverse polarity protection serve in the KS2424?

A: It prevents damage due to incorrect wiring during installation, reducing potential downtime and hardware faults.

Q: Why is the short-circuit current capped below 70 A in KS2424?

A: Limiting short-circuit current prevents thermal overload and protects downstream circuitry from excessive fault energy, ensuring channel longevity.

Q: How does the 1.7 J inductive load breaking limit affect KS2424 applications?

A: It ensures reliable switching off of inductive loads, like solenoids or relays, without contact damage or system instability.
