The KL9050-0000 from Beckhoff belongs to the KL Analog Input Modules series and works as a power-feed and communication termination element inside a modular bus terminal string. It forms the electrical endpoint of the K-bus so that downstream terminals share the supply lines and data channels provided by the fieldbus coupler. By combining system power distribution with a compact wiring interface, the unit helps machine builders assemble distributed I/O stations without separate terminal blocks or extra cabling.
The module accepts a supply voltage of 24 V DC through the power contacts and can service up to 64 consecutive bus terminals before another feed point is required. Internal electronics draw a maximum of 200 mA from the K-bus, leaving the remaining current available for attached analog and digital terminals. Installation is straightforward because the housing snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and its passive ventilation design allows variable mounting positions. A protection rating of IP20 limits use to control cabinets but still allows tool-free connection of signal conductors. The unit also supports a 400 mA K-bus supply limit, a 5 m station distance between feed points, and twin RJ45 service ports for orderly system layout.
Power distribution through the copper bars can handle a maximum load of 10 A at 30 V DC, letting high-density channels share one feed without external jumpers. Segment wiring may span a total of 155 m, so multiple cabinets or conveyor sections can be chained while still meeting voltage-drop allowances. Electrical isolation between logic and field circuits withstands 500 V, protecting upstream controllers during transient faults. Up to 31 terminal groups can be linked to a single coupler, and a starting current rated at 2.5 times nominal is accommodated by standard circuit-breaker curves when power is first applied.
