Product Description:
The KL8528 is an output module which is manufactured by Beckhoff. It is a well known digital output module that performs its functions effectively in industrial automation applications.
The KL8528 Output Module includes a manual switch with three selectable modes for flexible operation and diagnostics. It is a moderately lightweight module with a weight of only 160g. It requires a power supply of 24 volts and it uses a 20 pin shielded ribbon cable for input/output connections which help reduce electrical noise and make installation modular. It conforms to EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4 and ensures stable operation in noisy electrical conditions. It is rated to work in standard industrial temperature ranges from 0 to 55°C which makes it well suited for most factory conditions. Each of its output channels can supply up to 0.5 A, with a total output current limit of 2 A for the entire module. For its internal electronics it consumes 40 milli amperes from the K-bus. It can be kept safely in a wide range of temperatures which is useful for logistics and spares management. Its enclosure has IP20 protection and allows flexible installation orientations.
The KL8528 output module comes with 8 digital output channels which allows control of multiple devices from a single module. It connects via Beckhoff’s K-bus system which supports daisy chaining and integration into modular input and output networks. It is featured with diagnostics LEDs which provides visual status indication per channel or for module diagnostics and aids in maintenance and troubleshooting. The switch setting is readable by the PLC or controller which enables software based state awareness or logic decisions. It is in accordance with European safety and compliance standards.
Frequently Asked Questions about KL8528:
Q: How does the KL8528's IP20 rating impact its installation environment?
A: The IP20 rating ensures finger-safe protection but restricts use in dusty or wet environments. KL8528 should be installed in enclosures or control cabinets accordingly.
Q: Why is a 20-pin shielded ribbon cable used in KL8528 Output Module?
A: The shielded cable minimizes EMI and crosstalk, ensuring reliable data transmission. It also supports quick modular installation in dense wiring setups.
Q: Can the KL8528 be mounted in any orientation due to its design?
A: Yes, the KL8528 supports variable installation positions. This offers flexibility in tight or custom control panel layouts.
Q: What is the benefit of reading switch status in the KL8528 by the controller?
A: It allows real-time state monitoring or logic integration in PLC programming. This enhances automation efficiency and diagnostics.
Q: How do diagnostic LEDs on the KL8528 improve maintenance routines?
A: The green/yellow LEDs provide immediate visual feedback per channel. This aids quick fault isolation without external tools.
