Product Description:
The KL6811 is a single-channel DALI interface terminal produced by Beckhoff within the KL Analog Input Modules series. Designed for DIN-rail installation on the K-bus, the unit acts as a bridge between a PLC and Digital Addressable Lighting Interface circuits used in building or machine lighting. In industrial automation, it serves as an I/O node that transfers control commands and status data for connected lighting devices while drawing its internal supply from the system backplane.
The terminal can address up to 64 devices, allowing each luminaire on the DALI line to receive an individual short address. A built-in bus supply provides 130 mA, so no external power source is required on the loop. Communication runs at 1200 baud, which is the standard transmission rate for DALI telegrams. The terminal supports 16 groups for scene and group control, and the electronics draw from the K-bus at a nominal level of 24 V DC. The interface type is DALI/DSI, and the process image occupies 3 bytes from a K-bus mapping of 2 × 8-bit outputs and 1 × 8-bit input. With one channel and nonpluggable screw terminals, the unit provides straightforward field wiring while the power contacts carry system voltage downstream.
The housing measures only 12 mm × 100 mm × 68 mm, so the terminal takes up little panel space while still routing up to 10 A through its power contacts to neighboring modules. The enclosure has an IP20 rating, which means it is protected against accidental finger contact and must be installed in a closed control cabinet. Insulation against switching transients is supported by a surge-voltage resistance of 275 V AC rms, making the terminal suitable for networks that may experience electrical spikes. This combination of compact size, integrated line supply, and K-bus connectivity supports lighting control without requiring separate interface hardware.
