Beckhoff KL6224 is an analog input module for integration of IO-Link-enabled devices in modular automation systems. This unit is part of the KL Analog Input Modules series for flexibility, compatibility and precision in field level data exchange. It has four IO-Link interfaces, allowing point-to-point digital communication between the controller and smart devices, sensors and actuators through the IO-Link interface.
The KL6224 is built to the specifications of the IO-Link V1.1 specification and provides enhanced communication functionality, device level diagnostics and parameterization. The module is available in three modes of selectable data transfer rates, 38.4 kbaud, 4.8 kbaud, and 230.4 kbaud, in order to accommodate a range of device capabilities and communication needs. The 3-wire connection of each IO-Link port supports cable lengths up to 20 meters, providing broad compatibility and ease of installation in the industrial environment.
It can be operated at a nominal DC voltage of 24 V (tolerant to -15% to +20%) and has a supply current capability of 500 mA per connected IO-Link device, allowing a large variety of IO-Link peripherals to be used. The KL6224 receives power through the K-bus and power contacts, and consumes only 85 mA of current on the K-bus, making the KL6224 an efficient addition to any control cabinet.
With CE and UL approvals, the KL6224 is DIN rail mountable and is less than 60 grams, very compact and lightweight. It operates within a temperature range of 0C to 55C and is storage capable between -25C to +85C, and so is robust against a wide variety of industrial environments. The Beckhoff KL6224 provides robust communication capability, high current capacity and modular design, making it an excellent means of integrating intelligent IO-Link field devices into EtherCAT based control systems easily and precisely.
