The KL6201-0010 is an AS-Interface (AS-i) master terminal produced by Beckhoff within the KL Analog Input Modules series. Installed on a DIN rail beside other Bus Terminal elements, it coordinates communication between field devices on the AS-i network and the Beckhoff K-bus backbone. It serves as the interface between local terminal electronics and the AS-i segment, so commands and device states can move through the same control architecture. By integrating AS-i master logic inside a compact enclosure, the terminal lets a controller bring distributed sensors and actuators into the fieldbus cycle with minimal wiring. This arrangement allows the terminal stack to exchange process data with remote devices without adding a separate external AS-i master.
The module follows the AS-i master profile M3, so its cyclic frame structure and parameter handling meet that revision of the open AS-Interface standard. It supervises up to 31 attached slaves, including digital and analog devices, which allows mixed sensor and actuator topologies on one yellow cable. Communication parameters occupy 6 bytes of the parameter interface, and K-bus exchanges occur every 2 internal bus cycles, so AS-i data is transferred into the controller scan without an added gateway. Field wiring connects through two lines via spring-force contacts, which supports quick termination at the front of the terminal. The unit has one channel, so addressing stays simple, and the lack of power contacts helps prevent unintended back-feeding. A preset K-bus data width of 22 bytes maps process values directly into the PLC image, while the 35 mm DIN rail keeps the module aligned with standard Bus Couplers.
The housing has an IP20 rating, so live parts are finger-safe when the terminal is mounted inside a cabinet. Its narrow body helps conserve space in compact control panels, and the enclosure measures 68 mm deep and 100 mm tall while remaining only 12 mm wide. The single-piece case clips onto the DIN rail without tools, and the front-access spring terminals remain reachable after neighboring modules are installed. The front-access layout keeps wiring points visible even when adjacent terminals are mounted close together.
