The KL6021 bus terminal module serves as a reliable communication tool to link control and automation systems. The producer of the module, Beckhoff focuses on designing embedded parts along with electronics which operate throughout multiple industrial automation fields.
The bus terminal KL6021 secures placement within a 35 mm DIN rail system as per EN 60715 regulations using a locking system designed for strong EN 60715-compliant mounting. Each module is safely installed with double slot and key connections which allow adjacent module units to be mounted in direct contact. It mainly functions without power connectors yet it provides receive and transmit buffers having sizes of 128 bytes and 16 bytes respectively. This industrial data communication device operates with RS422/RS485 interfaces which address serial data transfer applications perfectly. The module performs data exchange operations through its TxD for transmit data and RxD for receive data channels in both full duplex and half duplex data transfer patterns selected for user needs. Users can choose transmission speeds between 1200 and 19,200 baud through the terminal KL6021 but the default baud rate is preset at 9600 baud.
The KL6021 bus module features a built-in electrical isolation rated to 500 Volts to mitigate unwanted current flow. The serial port becomes compatible with standards because its data framing design uses 8 data bits with one stop bit without enabling parity checking. Bit transmission through differential signals creates two effects: it stabilizes signal connections and it reduces signal interference that arises from communication distance. The 120 ohms line impedance requirement exists for data transmission where the maximum permitted cable length reaches 1000 meters for twisted pair networks.
