Wake Industrial LLC is not an authorized distributor of this product.
The Beckhoff KL5121-0010 is a 16-bit binary input module from the KL Analog Input Modules series. It features one encoder channel supporting A, B, Latch, and Gate connections at 24 V DC, and provides four digital outputs. The module is designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail, offers IP20 protection, and has compact dimensions of 24 x 100 x 68 mm.
Internal Product Review
The KL5121-0010 is a Beckhoff encoder interface module with 1 encoder channel and 24 V HTL signal support. A 16-bit binary counter and 1,000,000 increments/s limit frequency give the module excellent high-speed counting performance. IP20 protection and switching time under 100 µs make the unit a strong choice for fast, reliable automation tasks.

Product Description:
The KL5121-0010 module is produced by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. It serves as an incremental encoder interface that captures position data and feeds it to the control bus in real time, supporting coordinated motion sequences in automated machinery. One counting channel accepts a 24 V DC supply from the encoder and accommodates the A, B, latch, and gate conductors needed for phase evaluation and zero-point referencing. The plastic housing snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail, allowing space-saving installation next to other Beckhoff I/O terminals. This arrangement is useful where accurate pulse tracking is needed without adding a separate encoder interface card.
The internal counter works in 16-bit binary format, so each cycle is represented by 65,536 discrete values in the process image of 2 × 16-bit data plus 2 × 8-bit control and status bytes. Quadrature edges encoded as 24 V HTL signals are accepted through the A, B, latch, and gate lines, and the circuitry records transitions up to 1,000,000 increments/s without missing counts. Output compare events are propagated in <100 µs, enabling deterministic strobes for fast actuators and quick reaction during indexing tasks. Despite this performance, the terminal occupies only 24 × 100 × 68 mm, which helps preserve cabinet depth and keeps dense terminal rows practical.
Downstream devices can be driven by four digital outputs, and each channel delivers up to 0.5 A. The logic array simultaneously sources four pulse-synchronous signals at the nominal 24 V output level, which supports coordinated switching with the encoder count. The internal power contacts are rated for 10 A, letting the terminal share the supply rail with solenoids or lamps without external relays. The housing is rated IP20, so operation is intended inside a closed electrical cabinet with controlled ambient conditions. This combination of fast counting and timed outputs suits packaging, pick-and-place, and small axis applications.
