The KL5101-1100 crafted by Beckhoff is among the KL Analog Input Series. The product is a high-performance module designed for the purpose of integrating increment encoder. This module features 1 incremental encoder input with an additional input channel. Therefore, it can be applied to the broadest range of motion control tasks. Differential inputs A, A (inv), B, B (inv), C, C (inv) can be employed with the encoder, and status input is possible at 5 V DC and gate/latch input is possible at 24 V DC. The module works on 5 V DC encoder voltage with the encoder output current being 0.5 A for stable and reliable performance .

The KL5101-1100 drives a 16-bit binary counter, so the position can be counted correctly. Under 4-fold evaluation with its quadrature decoder, it provides up to 4 million increments per second; therefore, it is very responsive for any demanding applications. With this, it can provide 16-bit resolution and is able to reference the position precisely. Available commands enable flexible control and allow it to be easily integrated into automation systems. Power supply over 24 V DC, assuring that the module is compatible with standard industrial power settings, although the module draws typical 60 mA from the K-bus.

This module is intended for harsh industrial conditions with an operating temperature range between -25 to +60°C and storage conditions at down to -40°C. It also adheres to the EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27 vibration and shock resistance requirements for its durability. The KL5101-1100 also presents an IP20 protection rating and other EMC immunity and emission standards to be able to perfectly be applied in complicated and noisy environments.
