Product Description:
The KL4424-0050 is an analog current output terminal from Beckhoff that fits into the KL series of modular fieldbus components. It converts digital setpoints from the system bus into regulated current loops for process actuators, allowing a controller to drive valves, positioners, or transmitters through the same compact terminal structure used in distributed I/O stations. Its narrow housing supports dense cabinet layouts, and the front connection style keeps wiring accessible in installations where multiple terminals are mounted side by side. This makes the module suitable for applications that need several analog outputs without taking much rail space.
The terminal offers 4 electrically separated channels, and each channel is programmable within the standardized 4–20 mA span. A 12 bit converter produces 4,096 steps, which supports smooth setpoint changes for flow, pressure, or position control devices. Command data arrive over the K-bus in Siemens S7 format, and the unit maps them into the controller process image as four 16-bit words. The electronics draw only 20 mA from the K-bus, which helps preserve bus current for additional terminals in the same station. For stable operation, loop impedance must stay below 350 Ω, and the two-wire connection scheme keeps field wiring straightforward while every channel shares a 0 V reference on the power contact.
The plastic enclosure measures 12 × 100 × 68 mm and snaps directly onto a 35 mm DIN rail. Its slim profile helps maintain clear access to adjacent terminals and leaves room for organized cable routing inside the cabinet. An IP20 rating protects the electronics from incidental contact and falling debris when the module is installed in an enclosed control panel. Power contacts are rated for 10 A so auxiliary supply can pass through to neighboring terminals, which reduces the need for separate wiring runs. The low housing height also leaves airflow paths open, allowing the module to operate alongside other KL terminals without extra cooling hardware.
