Product Description:
The KL4032 is an analog current terminal manufactured by Beckhoff as part of the KL Analog Output Terminals series. Intended for industrial automation, the device occupies a single slice on a Bus Terminal stack and converts digital process data into physical current loops that interface with control valves, signal conditioners, and other 20 mA field circuits. The compact housing follows the standardized profile used across the series, so it can be combined with digital or specialty terminals without additional adapters. By placing the conversion electronics directly on the I/O rail, the terminal eliminates the need for separate converter boards and streamlines control-panel design.
The module provides two galvanically isolated output channels, each capable of sourcing or sinking ±20 mA. Channel scaling is linear across the full range, supporting proportional actuators commonly found in process control. Digital command words are handled by a converter that delivers 12-bit resolution, providing 4,096 discrete current steps per channel. In the process image, the device occupies two 16-bit addresses, which align with standard PLC data types and simplify software mapping. Despite the I/O density, the housing measures only 15 × 100 × 70 mm, so multiple terminals can be placed side by side while keeping cabinet width within common control-panel limits.
All electronics are powered by the system’s 24 VDC field supply. Each current loop supports instrumentation loads of less than 500 Ω, preventing saturation at the maximum setpoint. For mechanical integration, the housing snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail, allowing it to be installed with other compatible Bus Terminals. Its enclosure has an IP20 rating, so the terminal must reside in a protected control cabinet that prevents exposure to water and small foreign objects. The installation position is variable, allowing the terminal to be mounted horizontally or vertically without affecting its thermal behavior or output accuracy.
