Product Description:
The KL4002 is a two-channel analog voltage terminal produced by Beckhoff for its KL Analog Output Modules series. The slice occupies a single Bus Terminal position and converts digital control values from the controller into standardized 0 to 10 V signals for drives, dampers, or process transducers in distributed I/O stations. Through the K-Bus backplane, power and data are shared with adjacent terminals, allowing machine builders to scale analog points without separate wiring harnesses. Its narrow terminal format also allows the output channels to be installed alongside digital and specialty terminals in a modular I/O assembly.
The housing measures 15 × 100 × 70 mm, allowing high channel density inside compact control cabinets. It snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail, so installation requires no special fixtures. Each channel supplies a voltage in the range of 0 to 10 V, and conversion takes place at a 12-bit resolution, providing 4,096 discrete output steps for precise setpoint control. Electronic components are protected by an IP20 enclosure, which limits access to live parts while remaining suitable for clean, conditioned panels. Internal signal processing occurs through the K-Bus, with automatic mapping of the terminal image to the PLC. This arrangement allows the CPU to read and write process values without additional addressing work.
The module provides two independent outputs that appear in the controller as a 2 × 16-bit process image, simplifying cyclic data exchange. Downstream loads must have an impedance greater than 5 kΩ so the terminal can maintain the full voltage across its output range. Field power for the output stage is supplied through the side-bus 24 VDC power contacts. This separation keeps the control electronics on the K-Bus isolated from load currents. The installation position is variable, permitting horizontal or vertical mounting without derating. The terminal uses the shared K-Bus supply, so it does not require an individual fieldbus connection when added to an existing Beckhoff terminal stack.
