Product Description:
The KL3444 is a four-channel analog input module manufactured by Beckhoff for the KL Analog Input Modules series. As an I/O slice for modular controllers, it converts process currents into digitized values that a PLC can evaluate when regulating drives, actuators, or measurement tasks. By occupying only 12 mm of rail space, the unit allows dense signal acquisition inside control cabinets while sharing a common K-bus backplane with neighboring terminals.
Each channel samples its input through a 4 × 16-bit data frame, so the controller receives two bytes per measurement and can time-stamp them without packing overhead. Internally, the conversion electronics quantize the analog current with a 12-bit resolution, providing 4,096 discrete steps across the programmable range of 0–20 mA. Field wiring is simplified because the terminal uses a two-wire connection; the supply and signal share the same pair, eliminating the need for separate sense leads. For cabinet integration, the housing has an IP20 protection rating, providing protection against contact with hazardous internal parts but no protection against water. Overload detection is built in and flags out-of-range conditions for each channel.
Electrical distribution to the slice is handled through power contacts rated for 10 A, allowing the module to carry auxiliary loads without separate terminal blocks. Operating energy for the logic is supplied via the K-bus, so no extra wiring is needed when the module is installed beside other Beckhoff terminals. The circuitry tolerates transient peaks up to 30 V DC, protecting the analog-to-digital converter against surges that can occur during panel switching operations. Despite these capabilities, the housing remains compact, with dimensions of 12 mm × 100 mm × 68 mm, supporting high channel density on DIN rail assemblies.
